The philanthropic live auction evening hosted by Eva Longoria raised over $400,000

Dubai, UAE – 15 December 2014 – Dubai International Film Festival and Dubai Cares last night presented The Global Gift Gala, a unique international fundraising initiative in support of Dubai Cares, the Eva Longoria Foundation, Sunrise K’ Foundation and the Global Gift Foundation in association with Marina Home Interiors who joined hands as the exclusive Platinum sponsor of this grand event.

The second edition of The Global Gift Gala was held in Dubai last night, 14th December at WHITE Dubai and was hosted by actress, activist, philanthropist and the Honorary Chair Eva Longoria along with the founders of The Global Gift Gala, Maria Bravo and Alina Peralta.

The event had over 400 guests in attendance including international and local celebrities, personalities and philanthropists such as AbdulHamid Juma, Chairman of Dubai International Film Festival, Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares, Khurshid Vakil, Co-founder of Marina Home Interiors, Hani Ramzi, Amr Mostafa, Nadine Labaki, Lee Daniels, Bassem Youssef, Mohammed Saeed Harib, Ali Mustafa, Andile Mandela, Waed, Walid Toufic, Rami Al Ali, and Ali Younes amongst others.

Hosted by talented broadcaster Tom Urqhurt along with Emirati film director Nayla Al Khaja, the evening began with an exclusive performance by R&B Singer, Tallia Strom. This was followed by a touching speech from the Global Gift Foundation Founders, Maria Bravo and Alina Peralta who spoke on all the aspects that have brought this key event together, followed by a speech by Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares, speech by Eva Longoria as well as Sunrise K’s founders Dalia and Joanna Dogmoch.

The evening continued with performances by American singer Cody Wise who
performed his hit single ‘It’s My Birthday’, along with Lebanese Singer and Actor Walid Toufic and English Singer/Songwriter Alexandra Burke.

This year, the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) and Dubai Cares charity gala, in partnership with the Global Gift Gala, raised over $400,000 through generous donations for the exclusive auction led by Christie’s auctioneer Hugh Edmeades. Proceeds from the evening went to UAE based philanthropic organisation Dubai Cares, the Eva Longoria Foundation, Sunrise K’ Foundation and the Global Gift Foundation.

Auction items included:

• ‘The Eva Longoria Experience’ two business class return flights donated by Emirates Airlines to the Monaco Grand Prix, where the winner would be onboard a super yacht with Eva Longoria as well as $2,000 spending money courtesy of Dubai Duty Free (auctioned for $90K – two people bid separately at $45k each)
• ‘Travel to Space’ a chance to fly 36km above the earth into space, donated by zero2infinity (auctioned for $85K)
• ‘Lorenzo Quinn – Emotions – Alusma’ An ‘Emotions- Alusma’ sculpture by Italian artist Lorenzo Quinn (auctioned for $55K)
• ‘Two Million Swarovski Crystal Dress by Ali Younes’ A hand made Swarovski crystal dress by Ali Younes (auctioned for $45K)
• ‘Wolfgang Puck Culinary Experience’ A culinary private dinner by Michelinstarred Wolfgang Puck (auctioned for $35K)
• ‘The Equestrian Series – By Marina Home Interios’ An exclusive custom made Special Edition set of two Easy Chairs and Chest of Drawers donated by Marina Home Interiors (auctioned for $20K)
• Other prizes included bespoke artwork by Triptych, ‘Jamal Abdul Rahmin’ and ‘Hadi Zadeh, Neda’ canvases donated by Farjam Foundation, a cricket bat donated by Shyam Bhatia and autographed by legendary Imran Khan, a Leica camera, a Christian Furr bespoke portrait and a VIP package at Royal Ascot.

There were two awards given throughout the night; The Global Gift Humanitarian Award was awarded to Mohammed Al Ansari, Chairman and Managing Director of Al Ansari Exchange, whilst the Global Gift Excellence Awards was proudly given to Ahmed Ashmawi, both awarded for their contributions, time, efforts and resources to improve the lives within their communities and the world around them.

Eva Longoria commented on the evening, “We had another amazing successful event last night with the support of so many that attended. The next event will take place in Mexico in February 2015, followed by Paris, Cannes, Marbella, Marrakesh, London and will be returning to Dubai next year.
