CYCLING FOR CHARITY

CYCLING FOR CHARITY 17 Nov 2014
Four Points by Sheraton Dubai holds charity bike ride.

(Dubai, UAE- November, 2014) A team of 30 riders from Four Points Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road and Four Points by Sheraton Downtown Dubai pedaled 50 kms on the Al Qudra Cycle Path for a charity bike ride.

Funds (totaling AED 9000) raised from this grueling charity cycle ride is part of a campaign in which Starwood hotels collaboratively put their efforts together to raise funds for a cause supported by UNICEF.

This year, the aim is to raise over USD$700,000 to help UNICEF reach 2.1 million people living in poverty in urban and rural areas of Somalia with sustainable access to safe water and sanitation by 2015.

“It was an incredible journey, which tested, even the best of the riders. But they did it for charity”, says Erik Vedsegaard, Complex General Manager, Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road and Four Points by Sheraton Downtown Dubai.

The demanding terrain the cyclists had to negotiate helped to galvanize them as a team as they supported each other and shouted words of encouragement to spur each other on.

And given the overwhelming response, the hotels have now decided to hold this as an annual event.
